[SOLVED] Word Documents Not Previewing in Explorer Preview Pane

The Preview Pane in Windows Explorer is either not displaying the contents for word documents or is crashing when it tries.

Resolution:

The following steps can be used restore Explorers ability to preview word documents.

  1. Close any open word documents
  2. On the keyboard, press the Windows (Flag) button and ‘R’
  3. Enter 
winword /a

1. Open Word
2. Open Options – Trust Centre – Trust Centre Settings…
3. Trusted Documents – tick the ‘allow documents on the network to be trusted’ if not already ticked.
4. Trusted locations – add the C Drive (or whatever drive your docs are in) if not already in list, and tick ‘allow trusted locations on my network’. May have to restart your PC.
Do the same for Excel if you want Excel previews in File explorer.
